Default 110 Payload capacity

Does anybody tow with a new land rover 110? I visited my local dealer and they had 2 110's on the lot. I checked the payload stickers and both and they were only 825 lbs. Both were 6 cylinder one was a lightly optioned SE the other was an x and was pretty loaded. This means if you max out on tongue weight at 770lbs that leaves 55 lbs of payload. I was hoping to replace my lr4 which is my current tow vehicle and has almost 1500lbs payload capacity. Does anybody who owns a defender have a payload sticker with more capacity than 825 lbs?

I have a 2021 XD HSE with the 3rd row and my door specified payload is closer to 1,200 lbs. I’ve towed our boat (6k lbs w/trailer) and travel trailer (5k lbs) no problem. The manual states the below in regards to payload. As long as your GVW doesn’t exceed the stated limits (engine/seat configuration dependent) you only need to add the tongue weight - 330lbs to your payload calculations. At least that’s how I’ve interpreted the below.

For every pound above 331 lbs (150 kg) added to the trailer tongue weight, the same weight must be removed from the vehicle's payload. Make sure that the GVW, the GTW, and the maximum rear axle weight limits are not exceeded when applying the trailer tongue weight. If required, reduce the weight of the vehicle's payload.

Thanks for the info. That is interesting if they have calculated the payload with 300ish lbs "factored in" both configurations I looked at were 5 passenger and I was wondering if the 7 would be higher. If what you say is "true" that would put the payload close the 1500 lbs which is decent and about average for this segment as 825 lbs is a joke. My 911 is rated at over 600 lbs.

I am going to email land rover and hopefully get some clarification (not holding my breath). I would love to get a defender, but can only do it if it can replace the lr4 for towing duties.
