Default 130 vs 110

Hi, why are people actually opting for 110 vs. 130? What is your choice and what is your reason?
I actually want to buy a D130 as I had the 110 for a week with 2 kids and the cargo is quite limited.

I am interested in your opinion!

Personally preferences likely. I find the 130 ugly but that is me. Others love it. There is no right or wrong.

130 is hideous. Terrible departure angle, carpeted interior, no alpine windows, and bigger than I need.

110 offers all the storage I need* I add a hitch cargo carrier and roof box when camping. Cooler, firewood, water and trash go outside. Frees up all the real estate. Skis, trees, boxes, lumber, fuel, shovel etc. go on the roof.

Proportions on the 130 look like a hearse or the Ghostbuster mobile.

The d110 is fine for me (also have d90). But unless you what the play the LR roulette ordering game, the 110 is much more available.

The 110 makes for a much better off road vehicle (the 90 better still) with a 40 degree departure angle and shorter overall length. It's also lighter by 600 lbs and less expensive. Unless you need the extra 13" of cargo space offered by the 130, not sure why anyone would go for the larger truck.

Our 130 is perfect for us. The 3rd row seats have always been folded down for our 60lb dog. The cat rides up front. We have a cargo box on the roof. We constantly run from NM to CA to CO so the pup needs space on a 10+ hour run. And days and days of off-road in the San Juan mountains in CO climbing to 11k ft elevation where departure angle has never been an issue. Coalbank, Engineer Pass, Corkscrew, etc. Heck, we did Black Bear for several years in a Hummer H2 but it wasn’t open last year; am hoping we can do it this year in the 130. I get wanting the 110 if you are doing technical rock-climbing but that’s not us.

I camped for a week last year on several occasions with 3 teenage kids and I managed to make it work with my 110. I have storage boxes up top, trasheroo on the spare tire for firewood and misc. Like others the 130 just looks hideous to me. Save your money and spend it on storage boxes, hitch carries, etc.

The 130 didn’t catch my attention until I was dead set on a Tasman blue 110. You can’t get a 130 in Tasman, so it was an easy decision for me.

130 is niche and gigantic IMO so if you're actually on the fence about needing one then yes you probably do need it.
