Default 2020 Defender heated steering wheel function burned my steering wheel

So this morning I woke up with the weather a little bit cold, I hop on the car and used Heated Steering wheel function to warm up my hand. On the half way to my destination I saw a bit of smoke rising up, which then I found out that there’s a spot on the wheel got burnt by the heat. Any one have the same issue?

Known issue with some of the early Defenders. Call Land Rover customer service and they very well might be able to help you get it fixed under goodwill since your warranty is probably expired by now unless you have purchased an extended warranty.

Unfortunately, I do not have an extended warranty. I will just not fix them as this function still works, and the burn mark on the wheel is barely visible.. Thanks for replying, though!

I think what @wcc18999 was saying that despite lack of warranty coverage, it might be worth taking a few minutes to talk to the service department of your JLR dealer to explain what happened and see if they would, you know - replace the smokey fire bits.

You could easily argue it is a safety issue and warranty or not the dealer should take care of it for you for free. Whether they do or not is another question..
