It's rare for petrol engines to fail, now diesels are totally different.
D200 is absolute nightmare from what I'm hearing.

 

Its extremely disappointing when you buy your dream car then you have an engine failure like this? JLR South Africa claim my failure is due to poor fuel quality but never tested it and we have super cars running around here on the same fuel but the best 4x4xfar cannot? They have offered to buy the car back from me at a huge loss as I had to pay hefty import duty. Aside from my engine failure i have had to replace the windscreen twice with no visible stone chips and the sunroof once and I have had an issue with the Pivi pro pixelating each time I select reverse. My advice would be sell all new Landies, ( I am selling my older ones too) and get back into a reliable car which holds its resale value and if you do happen to break down your TOYOTA can be fixed by pretty much anyone anywhere!

l've heard no reports of engine failures here in the U.K.

There was an oil dilution problem with the 2.0 litre 4 cylinder but Land Rover stopped using that engine in the Defender

I have heard about the Halo LED headlights failing though.
