Gman53 - Did your dealer mention what would change for 2022 model year?

I just spoke with my dealer. They informed me that its highly likely my order will be swapping over to a 2022 model year order. They did not have any info on any changes for the 2022 model year. I was informed that the prices of items can increase or decrease from model year to year, so that is only moving piece.

The other bit of news that I was told was that the front under shield will now be a factory install for the 2022 models. We were discussing in another thread whether you could have the front under shield installed at the port for a discounted fee. My dealer indicated that the port is out of most accessories, which results in a higher install cost for any dealer supplied accessory. Not sure if dealers are getting priority for accessories over the port.

@DallasBBQ No, the dealership did not have any information on changes in price or changes/new options for the 2022’s. They are suppose to find out more tomorrow but they were certain that LR was going to change over to 2022 production earlier than normal. The dealership also stated that COVID has affected 2021 production efficiency and parts availability. They did not give a reason for the early 2022 start of production.

I “ordered” my new Defender last week, and I got a call from the dealership yesterday saying they didn’t officially submit my order yet because I was pending the credit approval for financing which I ultimately got approved yesterday as well, and they told me that they “got a call from LR Corporate” saying that new defenders ordered from today on, will be designated as 2022 models. They said the only difference in timeline is mid June for ‘22s instead of late May for ‘21s. I’m ok with that.

So essentially my dealer asked me if that was ok which I said yes. My only concern is, I ordered a specific and fully loaded ‘21 X-Dynamic HSE with certain options and trim that I’m worried will get lost in translation with the upcoming ‘22 if they change trim and option packages. They assured me that things won’t be too different but they’re not entirely sure. Does anyone else have any knowledge or experience with this sudden change?

Thanks! -Dave

There's two threads going on this (I replied on the other one too). In short, I also ordered last week, and just confirmed with my dealer that my build will be a 2022. No details yet on option changes, if any (still tbd).

I know there’s another thread for 2022 orders, but wanted to provide an update to my 2021 order. My dealer confirmed that my Defender was built on 2/19/2021 as anticipated. Looks like my delivery date slipped a few weeks, but overall pretty much on schedule.

I know there's a 2022 order thread going on, but wanted to reply here about my 2021 order and a timeline update. My dealer sent an update over the weekend that my Defender was built and shows a build date of 2/19/2021. They confirmed that this is the day it was finished. The delivery date slipped by about 2 weeks, but was told it could move up again. Barring any significant delivery delays, my 2021 is right on track.

Can I ask what part of the country you’re in and whether you ordered a P300 or P400? It’s probably a lost cause but am trying to figure out why I still haven’t heard anything after placing my order on 1/6/21.

Sure thing. I’m in Nashville, TN. I ordered a P400 SE, adding the tow package, cold weather package, and sun roof.
