Anyone know how often the brakes will have to be changed on the P400s? and what the dealer will be charging?

No idea yet on Defender brake lifespan, but I could only get 35K miles out of a set on my LR4. I'm thinking the torque vectoring will further reduce the life of the rear brakes.

Typically a LR brake change requires new pads and rotors. Plan on $800/axle at a dealer using OEM pads & rotors.

Unless you are constantly driving in highly slipper conditions I don't think the torque vectoring is going to be a significant determination of brake pad life.

And though most OEMs would "recommend" changing pads AND rotors these days, there are plenty of people who will throw a set of pads on an otherwise in-spec (by wear and not warped) rotor and get more life out of them.

As such I would bet you can do the brake pads only yourself for a fraction of that - maybe $100-200/axle or less.

Oh thats not bad..

I have heard horror stories about the cost of brakes on old discos and LR3/4 and wasn't sure if the brakes on this could maybe last longer than those similar to how the oil allegedly lasts longer now.

Like anything if you go with OEM parts it will be more expensive, if you have a shop do it then it will be more expensive still, if you have a dealer do it then it will likely be near what you predicted.

But largely brakes are brakes, parts are parts, and it's likely there is nothing "special" about these, though caveat sometimes you do come across something weird from an OEM supplier that requires a more expensive part. Still that's more the exception than the rule. If you can find reasonably priced pads and rotors for other LR models than I'm sure we'll be fine with the Defender too.
