I suspect a lot of what goes on for example when my local dealer had 14 2021 Defenders come in and two weeks later after I mentioned it on this site there was only one remaining, I'm relatively sure those were transferred out to other dealers who wanted a quick sale. My understanding is those dealers lose a slot when they do that and my dealer gains one. That's why when I ordered my 2022 it went right to the top of the queue and my dealer said it would arrive early. It did ultimately take 4 months but at that time we were thinking more like 6 months especially with the larger screen.

Dealer websites show all incoming vehicles as they hit.

They do not filter out the ones that have deposits on them and that are already presold until the buyer actually drives it off the lot.

Yeah at that price seems like a port install.

Default Flatirons Land Rover slimy and non-refundable

I had an opportunity with Flatirons in Colorado, someone backed out of their order last week.

The salesman wrote me that it was available, all I had to do was sign the "no export" agreement, send copy of DL and insurance, and give him a $1,000 refundable deposit.

I confirmed 'refundable' with him over text and email, and he told me they just refunded the original buyer (truck not due until 12/11/21).
I have the salesman Aaron's text and email stating all of this.

When I started sending in the paperwork, Aaron told me he had to speak to his sales manager Felix Garcia (weasel), who now said it was to be a non-refundable deposti, and that has ALWAYS been their policy. This, despite the fact he admitted they just refunded the original ordering client his deposit!?!?
Somehow Aaron the sales guy forgot this since refunding the prior buyer an hour before.

I had a conversation on the phone with the weasel Felix Garcia, as Aaron was too embarrassed to speak to me on the phone.
Weasleix said he would not budge from the position of non-refundable.

I told him they'd lost me as a future customer over nothing, since if I opted out of the truck, there would be a line behind me to take it.
He said he agreed with that, but in his smug slimy voice said he was still holding fast on their allegedly long-standing, policy, which he admitted moments prior he had made an exception to, and was not going to extend me the same courtesy.

I'd stay far away from Flatirons Land Rover in Broomfield Colorado if I was you, extremely slimy outfit.

I almost had a already dealer in transit defender. I called a dealer in New York that had almost my exact build, even better. First they said pending sale, then they called me back saying for sale, then they said they can't sell me out of state that it is only for tri-state residents (lol...I don't buy that but i am not pushing them). Back to seeing if my hse gets built on 9/17 with hud and 11 inch screen. If not maybe I will put in an order for a Rivian.

Default Late to the party

Hi All... Late to this Party. I have always been a fan of Land Rovers... Specifically the Defender, this gen and last... but have never owned one… as I never had a reason to.

Fast forward to today and I’m in the process of buying a boat and with the total weight just breaking 7000 pounds (Boat, Trailer, Fuel, Water) I need a tow vehicle. Upon research, the Defender fit the bill! It's nice because I did not want to purchase a pickup or larger SUV. I wanted daily that we could use as a family for commuting and errands... Where a Pickup would be extremely limited to the Boat and the occasional home project.

I was planning on buying a 110X... The 6-pot for better fuel efficiency over the 8 and the X model for the Air Suspension for towing. I reached out to the local and only dealer here in Oregon. They quoted me a 6-9 month wait.

I then reached out to several dealers outside of my state for existing inventory (very slim)… only to find out they will only sell within their region based on some new rule Land Rover has put in place due to inventory shortages. Very frustrating to say the least.

So I went back to my local dealer and submitted an order with a $2000 deposit. I asked when they get their allocations and where I am on the list (how many people are before me). I got the vague answer that their allocation is based on sales volume… but nothing specific to my questions. I’m sure he is avoiding it to prevent me being discouaraged.

My Boat arrives sometime in November and I can rent a Pickup locally if I need to until the Defender arrives… Which is fine considering it will be through the winter months and the Defender will hopefully arrive in the Spring?

Question for you all, what has everyone’s experience been with new orders within the last month? Same situation? I saw the earlier post that LR is not accepting new orders for the Defender at the moment. Kind of frustrating especially when you see the debuting new models like the 007 Special edition. Any additional insight/feedback is greatly appreciated. I’m new to the brand and not sure how they have been during COVID and Chip Shortage times.

Thanks in advance,
Donavan

I thought you can't get the Air suspension unless you order an X or higher now? or maybe I misunderstood... is standard on the X, but optional for the other models???

Air suspension is $1600 on any trim where it isn't standard.
