I found what is actually causing my Defender to pay monthly for its parking space at the port. It seems there is a cable they needed for the Privi-Pro system screen (I have the large one). So once that cable makes it to the JLR unit there at the port, they will ship it to Scottsdale. Don't really know why it has to wait there for the cable, aside from the fact they would have to pay the dealer to clip it in. Most likely 10 hours at $220 an hour, like the mud flaps, geeze. Now, unlike what the folks in Florida have been reporting about surcharges, I got my final bill and I got a rebate! It was to offset the price increase that occurred during my build. Now that is kind of cool. It was sad that this dealer does not give the military appreciation discount, some do, so ask. It seems they all keep it a secret. I only found two that admitted it: one in New York and one in Pennsylvania. Of course there may be others. These rebates and discounts from retailers are pretty much the only VA benefit I get for being an unwilling target for so many projectiles sent my way. Honda gave me $500 off my ATV/tow tractor, that was totally un-expected.
Veterans receive medical benefits from the VA as well as compensation for injuries and illness as a result of service. If you have not done so, apply for the benefits you deserve. I waited 30 years before applying (Vietnam was a long time ago!) because I didn't know what I was entitled to, and as a result I am rated 100% by the VA and receive benefit payments.
Home Depot and Lowe's offer discounts for vets and you need to go online and get their app, and apply etc. Lots of discounts out there but alas, zip, zero from LR on anything.
Thank you for your service and enjoy that new Defender when it arrives!
Salute to another veteran. Yes, I know of all the VA benefits I could get it I wanted to go through three years of evaluations and years of appeals, each time driving down to Phoenix for the evals. I can get hearing, all of us who flew off carries are deaf. Personally I was in a group they experimented with in the 80's bringing back single engine radials to the carrier for quals, ancient T-28C's. Lets see canopy open exhaust going over the wing, 1,420 hp, it was so loud we could not hear radio transmissions. The deck runs where a hoot on the old Lady Lex just before it went to scrap. I also got my lifetime dose of radiation from test flying the E2-C, 1.2 million watts of UHF radiation 22 times a minute going through the cockpit. Odd, they now have gold plated windows. My back is not a thing of beauty, nearly 300 carrier landings and two crashes test flying and one in the fleet on fire to a rather poor landing. Anyhow, I did start the process but apparently since Obamacare (not meant to start anything political) they told me that since I make over $20K a year I must handle it through my own health care insurance, unless I go through the disability process. I have been self employed since exiting the service, so I am graced with $10K deductible. So, my application was rejected. My son, who was in a Navy EOD unit, gets excellent coverage. Just to put it in perspective, Petro, my buddy through ROTC and Flying in the Navy, ex F-14, got his hearing done. Well it took him three years and the only way he got it was due to his close friendship with the Chief Bethesda Audiologist. So yes my Home Depot discount (which went a long way this summer fixing up my CA property) and my own parking spot at the Homeco in Flagstaff is pretty much where it ends. Which in a strange coincidence, I got a compliment on my Winter Flying Jacket while at Homeco yesterday. Personally I think the best part of that jacket is it was free, but it is fire resistant. I suppose that could come in handy. If your totally bored, you can read about my first exciting really crappy landing on fire in Cyprus. Just got to love military aircraft, e'fling POS's.
Dogpilot: Hats off, and likely pants too after something like that. A great read written in the factual style of someone who knows how the military works...poorly in most cases. My story is mundane, TBI due to explosions and chem exposures. You might need that fireproof jacket with the Defender judging from several that have ignited; probably not a bad record considering the thousands built and some used pretty heavily. That would be another story for another time! Actually, the Defender is the most satisfying vehicle I've owned. We bought one and loved it so much we bought another so now we have his and hers.
As for the VA keep fighting for what you have coming. They denied AO exposure for decades, some cases it took 40-50 years to acknowledge exposure until most had passed on. Patrol boats had decks awash in it yet they wouldn't accept responsibility for the illness it caused. Okay, off my soap box. Be safe and be well and enjoy the new ride.
Anyone else have an order on the Morning Lena that just docked in CA? My dealership here in Denver said my order should be here in 10-14 days if that is helpful to anyone. Excited about finally taking delivery soon!

Today I asked my dealer (in Montréal, Canada) about the possibility of ordering a Defender P400e this year and he thinks they will probably have allocations around october (2022). He also heard there would be a new battery with extended range coming. Anyone else of that?
