Wish it was! My dog is about 4 mos old and a total puppy. We haven't camped yet. We give him up in another year since we are raising him as a Service Dog for a program. So, I'm DEFINITELY going to socialize him in the great outdoors.
I had a Chevy Tahoe and I gotta say, it is definitely great for what it is. It would be a great loaner in my book. Good luck with the part!
Thanks for the thoughtful advice mate but I really don't want to go that route. It has already been discussed. I'm not at all worried that the dealer will ultimately source the part and get me going again. It's just frustrating to see JLR's inaction.
The dealer loses nothing by buying the car back. They'll fix it and sell it at their chosen dealer mark up. It's win win for the dealer there. I'l be substantially out of pocket however.
I waited 4 months to get the car. We built it to our chosen spec with all the desired bells and whistles and nothing more. I'll just wait as long as it takes.
Also the question then presents if I did take a refund. What car do I then get? I'm not about to get another at MSRP anytime soon.
We chose the Defender as it ticks all the boxes for our needs and wants.
Initially my anger and frustration was aimed at the dealership but they really have no sway. They have me in a long term rental and have been very mannerly, respectful and professional throughout. I spoke with the manager today and brought him up to speed. Tried asking for the Trophy as a loaner to no avail. LOL. Never hurts to ask.
So long as JLR central and the individuals responsible decide to not release the part to them there is not a thing they can do. Hopefully by Jan/Feb I'll be back in the car. Time will tell.
I'm sorry for being a Debbie-downer in the forum. It's by and large filled with such fun and interesting threads. This is sort of my release valve for my frustration. At the end of the day it's just a car and an inconvenience. Cheers!
Hey Gavin, I would call the Seattle LR and see if they can order you the correct part. I asked Bellevue to order me a windshield and still waiting on it, going on 5 months. I put a request to Safelite and a month later, I received a call saying it is available to install. I asked Bellevue for a part for my window and they said it would take a month. I asked Seattle for the same part and they had it in two weeks. Bellevue is a complete mess right now with mechanics and service advisors leaving. You may even want to see if Steve from LR Denver could order you the part. He seems to have some clout.
Rear door takes several attempts to open.
After pressing the open button on the back of the handle, I can hear the door soft-close motor operating, give the door a yank - nothing.
Repeat 3 or 4 times to get the door to open. Vehicle locked or unlocked makes no difference.
(Soft close takes 2 or 3 attempts to work).
Probably a bad motor. Nice job Land Rover.
Did I mention the vehicle has less than 100 miles?
Don't feed the troll.. That particular idiot keeps crapping over the Defender on this forum. Doesn't have one, and you can safely disregard his posts/put him on ignore.
Indeed. More like sour grapes plus major insecurities. Let him look inside from the filthy bus windows he resides behind. This guy spends a lot of time negatively commenting. I can’t wait for my D90. I think it looks and drives amazing and if it has a few problems, so what. Go look at Ferraris and see how temperamental those cars are, though the closest this guy will get to one of those is more fiero than Ferrari.

Hey Sean
I contacted 10+ parts vendors here in the states. Either got no reply or a reply outlining the part's non availability.
JLR UK are trying to source the part and once they get it we will have an eta.
I don't know what their costs are WRT the rental from Enterprise but it is adding up.
It's a hurry up and wait situation unfortunately.
It's given me and the kids time to get our Yukon-wave down pat. Much less complicated than the Defender wave thankfully.

This little clip broke off the rear door alignment pin. Now the door works perfectly!
Anyone know what this clip is for? Any problem with it NOT attached?

3 weeks from failure to fix. Part was located in Jaguar's stash apparently and showed up at the dealership on Wednesday. (3 days ago) Not sure I know what to believe to be honest but I've got my car back.
When I was picking it up my service guy told me another Defender had come in on a flat-bed with the same issue.
I do not know why I read these rabbit holes why i am waiting for a MY23 D90 X to make it out of the holding pool... It is equal parts "are you crazy" and "nothing to see here"
The new Defender should be a $60k SUV tops. Paying $75-80k for one of these is bonkers considering all the problems they are riddled with. The only logical conclusion as to why buyers are buying them is that they are visually in a class of their own. Noting comes close to the design. They catch looks around every corner and are conversation pieces at lunch. In a world of boring SUV's, the Defender stands out in the crowd. Other than that, they are junk.
