Looks like I'm TuffAnt install #2 here in the US. Can't say enough good things about Jake of TuffAnt USA who not only delivered, but installed them. Great guy and great service. I've a P400 with air suspension. Other than left-hand drive, similar to what most Aussie TuffAnt users have. Instructions are clear with little need for deviation or clarification. This could easily be a self install, but would probably take longer than the suggested 3-4 hours. On top of what Mike_F had to say, I've attached a few pics of the brackets that we removed and what the undercarriage looks like after the install without those felt wind/noise guards.

Glad to hear it went well - and it makes sense that yours matched the instructions. Most of our “what do you want to do with this” moments were because the brackets were different without air tanks.

Oh - and a bonus pic... This is what we found above those felt panels - 1/2" of dried caked mud.


A small piece. Most certainly need eye protection when removing the felt panels. Face shield would be better.

 

After debating on which sliders, I finally ordered the Lucky8 Proud Rhino Sliders. I am so glad that we have more options today than when we got our 110 back in 2020, but I've had such good experience with Lucky 8, (and I came down on a rock hard this past weekend) so I finally pulled the trigger.

 

You won't be disappointed! You're VERY correct. There are a LOT of good options available. To me, this seemed the right choice and I have no regrets. Just some tips if you are putting them on yourself:
1. Get them Rhino Lined or LineX before you install them. If you like / don't mind the looks, this makes them much more durable to scratching, etc. and some (aka, me) believe it helps prevent some galvanic issues.
2. Have someone else assist!! I installed them solo, but that's only because I have a weak mind and a strong back. It was crazy challenging to deal with that weight alone.
3. Make darned sure the sills are oriented the correct way. Putting them on is a HUGE pita.
4. Read ALL the articles others posted on installs and it will point out many tips. This was very helpful to me.
5. Make sure you get ALL the bolts off before starting (re-read #4) the install of the liners.

Resurrecting this thread for my new to me 2023 Defender. Had a 2020 model previously. The 2023 came with the Lucky8 sliders installed, including the flat metal sill plates.

Has anyone been successful in modifying the factory sill plates to work with the Lucky8 sliders? The Lucky8 sill plates were installed with plastic push in clips (I assume locally) instead of the supplies rivnuts. They rattle when you close the doors. I checked with Lucky8 and they are very helpful and sent me the necessary hardware to install the sills correctly even though these were installed by the prior owner. That will most likely solve the rattle issue. But I was wondering if anyone has reinstalled the original sill plates and how that worked out.

I used rivnuts for the sill plate. I would leave the sliders with the power coat and just line-X the inserts. If you line-X the sliders when you hit something it will come off, it is just too gripping to slide without ripping off the line-X .

 

 

Anyone have any sill takeoffs they don't want?

 

I have the sill pieces that came with my Voyager sliders. I trimmed and reused the OEM sill pieces so have no need for them.

Sounds like you're trying to do the same. Definitely the best way to go. Would be easy to do with the LK8 also.

If and when you get them and if you need any pointers I'm happy to share pics and info. Fiddly work but worth the effort. Second sill was much neater and easier than the first. They trim beautifully with a box cutter.
