But like I said, I leave the navigation on there and it fills in nicely.
Having the navigation in the interactive display right in front of me while driving is very helpful, since I do not have to glance all the time to the Pivi screen. Like I said in another thread, I would never take delivery of my truck if I was promised the ID and the truck arrived with that ugly (IMO) mixture of physical gauges and display, which looks to me an afterthought.

I agree, but I think people are trying to convince themselves it's OK so they can sleep at night, after spending $80K+ on this car.

Yeah. But I don't really blame them. It is a hard spot to be in. You wait many months for your car, expecting and literally dreaming of it coming as you spec'd and all of a sudden LR pulls the rug under you and cuts important parts of your car. If it was just sunglass holder, USB ports, etc - kinda fine, but screens and the like is just unacceptable. You are then faced with a choice of (finally) taking deliver of your dream or refuse and put another order, wait many months again and potentially face the same issue.
It is just deceptive from LR doing that. They should allocate resources and tell each dealer a number of cars that the dealer would be allowed to sell with certain equipment. Once the dealer reached the quota, that's it...no more selling cars with that equip. But, no...they do not want to loose those orders and the customer may or may not get what they asked for.

Yes, it kind of sucks but there's no alternative... At least for me, and I am paying over my budget for it already..

Here is something for you to sleep on...If I wanted the latest in telematics and video screens, Defender would have been FAR from my first choice....

Completely disagree. I wanted a mix of physical and digital. I don’t have full faith in a tv screen telling me absolutely everything. I’ve seen screens go out for dumb reasons and having at least a backup plan is just fine.

Now, if your argument is that it isn’t the best design- fine. But it’s far from the worst I’ve seen.

And while on the argument, this isn’t just a LR problem. Buddy of mine ordered a new M3 and he only got a single backup camera. No heads up. The other 7 cameras were deleted due to “parts shortages”. I’ll take a semi weird display to get all the other stuff I wanted.

100%...Get some popcorn for this one....I think the round-dial analogue gauges are a better look in the Defender...

While I understand your argument, I think you've pretty much signed up for "having full faith on a tv screen" when buying the Defender - even the one with the mixed analog digital display - just an uglier version (IMO) when compared to the full ID. If you look close, all the relevant information is still on the "tv screen" in the middle of the dials. If that fails, at best you will have the speed and revs. That's about it.

FELLAS:

The interactive display is a simple plug and play and you can buy them used on ebay. The interactive display is the same unit that goes in the sports fullsize l405 and discoveries.
