Man this sucks. I think hackers should get the death penalty.

Interesting that it only includes the Solihull, Halewood, and Wolverhampton engine plant. Defender is made at the Nitra plant in Slovakia. I wonder if they were unaffected by the shutdown, as this only seems to be a UK problem.

Many reports have included Nitra, Slovakia and China and India in the shutdown. My SA today said that they still don't have any idea on the impact to my order. Only that they are "trying to reduce the impact on production".

The Nitra plant is also affected. Production is currently suspended according to several Slovakian news reports.

From https://eu.detroitnews.com/story/bus...r/86308903007/

Production at its factories will remain paused until Oct. 1, JLR said Tuesday. The company had previously aimed to resume operations this week. Sites in the UK, Slovakia, India and Brazil are affected.

“We have made this decision to give clarity for the coming week as we build the timeline for the phased restart of our operations and continue our investigation,” the company said.

Hopefully they will resolve this soon. It has been going on for longer than expected.

I wonder how many millions this has already cost JLR with having all the plants down. It's kind of nuts to think about a multi-billion dollar company not having more failsafes and secondary backup plans for something like this in 2025.

One of you should just cancel your order and pick up my 2025.5 X. Take delivery this week.

It is definitely a wild situation! A month long shutdown?!
Still no updates on my Defender's whereabouts since August 15th at the port in Europe. I gotta assume it will be hitting the port in SoCal, maybe even by tomorrow if it was indeed able to get on a ship. I speculate it could be on the Wild Rose after doing some digging but who knows. Maybe it arrives at the dealer by next weekend? (Salt Lake City)

News information thus far indicated that the IT systems support was contracted out to Tata Consulting Services (TCS) which is another affiliate of the Tata Group.
That outsourcing also included Security.
And the 2 other major cyber breaches in the UK were also under contract with *drumroll* ... TCS.
JLR also makes use of SAP (just one of many systems) and TCS is a world player in that space.
And with intimate industry experience dealing with the likes of TCS, I can honestly say they will not even be on the bottom of the barrel of options if ever I need to entrust my business IT software or (heaven forbid) security to an external party.

I feel for JLR as this arrangement was likely forced upon them from the mothership. But they can most likely lay the blame on the mothership for this unfortunate turn of events.
