Default '23 P300 Modification Recs

Good morning. New member here. Spec'd a P300 with limited options purposefully as we planned to ship her to the Virgin Islands (no LR service center or overly technical alternatives). 2 years later, she finally will be making her way down after a restful Miami slumber. I jumped on here as a VERY green off-road enthusiast in the hopes I might trouble you all for some guidance. No serious off-roading planned beyond mountain living.

Current specifications:
Coil Suspension
18" 5093 Gloss White Steel Wheels
Factory Off-road Tires
Snorkel
Safari Rack + Ladder
Diamond cross protection kit

Areas of concern (in order from most to somewhat) for me are:
Recommendations on upgrading the coil/shocks suspension
Recommendation on replacement tires - considering the KO2s
Recommendation on muffler upgrade for improved sound/performance
Recommendation on anything additional you have found to be worth the upgrade for mountain driving

Thank you kindly

Having spent quite a bit of time living and driving in the USVI, my biggest recommendation would be to replace those factory AT tires with a good tire that can soak up those - quite frankly primitive USVI "roads". I'd recommend something like a Toyo AT that has a reputation for being a robust rubber. Back when I had Toyo's on my big heavy truck, I drove it over what amounted to a bed of pungi sticks and didn't get a puncture. I was impressed.

The rest of the truck really doesn't need to be touched IMO. If you really wanted you could invest in a set of lift springs from Sarek, but I haven't heard of any kind of feedback of what the long term effect of increased CV angle has when those are installed. Perhaps a set of ditch lights so you can better see the edges of those unmarked roads.

If you don't have the recovery hooks then you might want to consider adding those. Otherwise I think you'll find that the Defender is exceptionally good right out of the box for the type of terrain that you'll experience in the USVI.

Your Defender is nicely otioned the way it is and I would not do anything to it other than replace the tires when needed with either KO2's or as suggested above the Toyos. As for upgrading the mufflers, check the militek website.https://www.milltekcorp.com/2.0-110-wheel-base/c1762

I'd lose the raised air intake. It's not a snorkel. Unless you're commuting through the USVI's version of the Sahara desert, it will provide zero benefit with a good possibility of needing some sort of repair/replacement down the line. Also a pain to deal wit when your windshield cracks.

I'd leave it as is other than that. Recovery loops as a great addition too $200. I'd not do anything else right away. Jealous of your steelie option. Not available in USA anymore.

24k on my 23.5 P300.

concur withe the tire upgrade.

I wouldn't spend any money on exhaust. I can't imagine you'll experience any noticeable performance improvement, and I can't imagine it would create an improved sound.

Tow hooks, opening access to front hook with either a new bash plate or a cutout, and if you're possibly going to be alone in rough terrain, a winch.
