Default 25% Tariff?

I’ve got a 110 being delivered in June to the US…wondering if I’m screwed by the new tariffs signed today…dealer didn’t seem worried a couple weeks ago…but no one seems to know exactly how this is going to work…anyone hear something else from their dealer?

Politics are an amazing discussion, and there is a place to discuss them. This however is not it, this is where we discuss our love/hatred for the most unreliable fun you can have on 4 wheels.

Thank you to those that have self moderated and deleted their political comments. Others should consider doing the same, so myself and the other moderators can spend our time fighting **** spam and people trying to reach you about your extended warranty

My dealer told me a few weeks ago the tariff will be charged to the buyer. No way the dealers can eat that cost.

With these jokers you never know if the whole thing will be delayed, reversed, or whether some companies will be able to buy their way out with fake new investment announcements. If I was JLR I’d announce a new factory somewhere real quick. End result of all this is we’re going to be driving $50K Chevettes. The US auto industry will cease to be competitive on world markets and the Chinese will own the rest of the world’s EV market. What a waste of

JLR's imports will be charged tens of thousands per car, right at the docks, before you get it. So unless you have a signed contract, your choices may be to pay more or walk away.

Yeah - I guess I’ll have to see what plays out over the next week. Since the Defender is built in Slovakia (I think)…not sure if they’ll base it off their tariffs (if they even have any) or JLR HQ…all very confusing…but I definitely wont be paying 25% above MSRP

I have had my 2025 P400 2 door for about 4 months. I was getting buyers remorse a few weeks ago about spending so much money on a car and thought about trading it in for something else. I test drove a couple mercedes and lesus and had already owned a bmw, but after driving them I cant believe how much better the defender is. and of course my $80,000 car was only worth in the low $60's as a trade in, but I bet now I could get a lot more for it maybe even original price, but there is nothing else out there that compares to this car.

Hmmm, thinking about what you said. I guess these idiotic tariffs just made the value of my Defender go up on the private market. Someone looking to purchase a new one would get hit with a huge markup due to the Trump tariffs. But since I have a pristine ‘22 Defender X Dynamic SE with only 16k miles with lots of owner mods, fully optioned, zero flaws in like new condition, anyone could purchase mine and save a bundle. I’ll have to do the math.

I'm willing to bet that these tariffs won't be in place by June. They'll probably either A). not go into effect because they'll work something out or B). They'll go into effect for a month or so and something will be worked out shortly afterwards, because nobody would be willing to put up with this.

I hope you are right. But even in that case I feel sorry for anyone who purchases at the elevated price and then suddenly suffers even more of a depreciation if the tariffs are repealed. I've been shopping dealer inventories to replace my MY23 D90 but will put that on hold if I don't come across something soon.
