Soooo, miss the @insider !! I think either the trolls ate him from early thread which were a bit rough or moved on from the company. Hope it wasn't because he got ratted out! Great source of inside intel.

We contend that for a nation to try to tax itself into prosperity is like a man standing in a bucket and trying to lift himself up by the handle. If you destroy a free market, you create a black market." Winston Churchill

In my zealot pursuit to beat the tariff on my OCTA (successfully) I totally lost focus of the forest vs the tree.

It is "free" just not for us ( insert irony ).
We already pay a price for loosing manufacturing here, but ... this is politics now, and I guess I will try avoid that.

Well according to this article from The Times JLR is pausing new shipments to the US for at least a month. Also considering price increases and which other countries they should work to bolster sales instead to replace lost US sales.

Just back from the dealer - needed to get our trade in re-appraised before picking up our 2025 Defender on Tuesday - which we are getting tariff-free, for the same price we agreed to in December. The sales persons shared some of the same things reported here today and a little more:

- As reported, Land Rover are pausing shipments to the US - he believed in April - to determine how to best handle the tariffs.
- Tariffs actually won’t apply to vehicles that are in transport to the US for a certain period of time: Land Rover won’t have to pay tariffs for vehicles that are on a vessel and in transit to their destination before 12:01 a.m. Eastern Time on April 9th.
- There was an employee at the dealership who has a family member working at the Slovakia plant. That employee relayed that they are refusing parts (to build Defenders) from suppliers in anticipation of a major manufacturing slow down.
- That same source relayed that they are contemplating shutting the Slovakia factory down this summer (Temporarily)
- Our trade-in increased in value by about $3K since December - Crazy. Our sales rep relayed that used car prices are already behaving like they did during covid and their used car brokers virtually cannot buy used cars anymore because prices are above what they can approve.
- Our sales rep also relayed - one year old used Defenders are already selling for what they did for retail when they were sold new…
