Country of manufacture doesn't matter as tariff is 25pc for any car import to USA irrespective of country.

Yeah, always enjoyed his perspective and inside knowledge. He hasn’t surfaced in awhile, but wish he would jump back in. We could use his contribution.

I got lucky - ordered in December. Vehicle arrived in Baltimore March 22nd - talk about getting in under the wire. It’s at the dealership as of yesterday. We take delivery next week and I’m grateful to not be caught up in this mess.

I’m in MA. Vehicle was shipped on the vessel Aniara. It makes you wonder where the “tariff line” is - the point where it gets assessed, and everything that hasn’t crossed that line yet, gets taxed going forward. Guessing, point of entry - where it rolls off the ship.

Happens at port of entry. When is delivery date? Your dealer not mention it will be subject to the new tariffs?

April 8th. Dealer let us know that the vehicle is not subject to the new tariffs. Likely because it cleared customs March 22nd ish.

So... tariffs are here. It is a given. They won't go away, it is a "yuge" revenue source for the budget, basically free money.
Now, some customers would not care a bit.
They want that car, they have the money, and no matter what, they will pay for it.
However, this will reduce the pool for normal buyers, those with a budget. That in turn may make a few dealerships disappear.
It leaves me wonder, if the used pool of Defenders - for sale - would drop in price, or appreciate even more due to the lesser imports and higher prices ?
JLR will never open a factory here, or work out a deal. If I was in Vegas, I would bet on that. But ... I am not
Anyways, what are your thoughts ?

?
It's "free money" like taxes are "free money". The "free money" comes from the people - We pay the tariff - and we pay the price by it's impact on the economy - check out how the DOW is doing - you know that right?
