JLR has been producing cars in India & Brazil for the local market from knock-down kits for well over a decade. It still requires a lot of effort to build and tool a production facility, even for cars produced from knock-down kits

Not really. Look into the EU laws more. It is targeted for specifically US vehicles.

Absolutely correct. It is a win - win for all. As in building a factory here in the US, to assemble them, why not? The more the better.

Sorry, but that is just not true. It has nothing to do with US cars. I have paid these fees and taxes on all my German and British cars.

Tesla will be most impacted by BYD and the price of the BYDs .... It is an overpriced vehicle, the "cool kids" fad. Say what you want about Chinese cars, but even with 25% tariffs on them, if ever imported in the US, they will still be cheaper and more than likely better. If you are curious, just check out DCARSTUDIO on YouTube. I know, is a lot of propaganda, however there are some features that Tesla does not have and will not have any time soon. But, no problem there, it ain't gonna happen in our life time I think.
As much as I hate taxes, I do understand the logic behind it. The globalization was supposed to be improving the little people lives, make it cheaper and more affordable. Cars made around the world these days are anything but cheap and affordable. With these taxes, something is gotta give ... we'll see in time where this leads.
