Yeah I have the steelies. I may cancel my tire order and order the factory 255, I don't know. I was kind of wanting the E load range tires and slight increase in size but now I'm rethinking it.
There are plenty of folks with steelies and these and other heavier A/T or M/T tires.
I think in an email the dealer's staff is going to be very cagey on any questions like this. Most have no clue about tire specs and things like this. They're not going to promise or assure you of anything with any certainty. When in doubt they'll come up with some vague reply.
The reality is that a 0.5" increase in width and diameter over OEM is not going to cause problems. (most likely) and this would be next to impossible to void a drive train or suspension warranty on. Nothing is zero chance but even if you go with OEM sizing in the D rated, if they wanted to be difficult they could cite the heavier tire, the LT nature of the tire rather than the XL OEM rating etc.
265/70 R18 is a good option.
Those E rated tires with their nice tall 11mm thick sidewalls are worth it when you get into the fun stuff. That extra 0.25" of ride height will have you rock crawling the Rubicon before you know it.
Well Gavin pushed me over the top. Thanks for all the input everyone, it was very helpful. In the end I had the 265/70r18 BFG KO2s put on at Costco. They tried to talk me out of it and said it would rub and that I can't lower it out of off-road height but that's not true. No rubbing at full lock in access mode.
It's currently getting PPFd with Xpel stealth but as soon as it gets back I'll post some better pics. I got the wide wheel arches but apparently they don't fit the 2024 for some reason.

That's very strange they don't fit. I thought there was no change in the 110 for MY2024 and the 110 wheel arches fit all 110's. 130's are a different story and 90's have their own too.
I k I know! It's strange. I haven't heard back from Rimmer Bros yet, just emailed them today as I already received the wide fenders. If they don't take them back I guess we may see what the difference is.
So the size is ok, the BFG KO2s fit fine with no rubbing, I think the size difference is only half an inch difference in diameter. The potential problem is the weight. The factory Goodyear tire is 38 pounds and the BFG is 56. I will use the factory rim but the weight is noticable. I live in Phoenix AZ. The dealership has been fantastic in every other way so far. And like I said, they didn't tell me it a claim would be denied outright but he did say photos had to be submitted to Land Rover and not factory sizes tires could cause a problem.
I may have done this poorly, but I did try to go to the BFG site directly and learn if KO2s can be fitted to a Defender (which I'm considering but don't own). From my attempts the site never came back with a KO2 recommendation for Defender configurations I entered. Maybe I did this wrong or something, but it seems like the KO2s may have more to them than size considerations - maybe it's weight, or maybe it's the suspension and lack of room in the wheel arch that simply don't match to what the KO2s were looking for to get the recommendation. Not sure, but I would agree that JLR should figure out how to get KO2s fitted correctly to a Defender trim with 18" rims.

I mean you can get Goodyear Duratrecs from the dealership, I was inquiring about out of factory spec sized tires. If you want BFG KO2s and don't want to worry about it just get the BFGs in the factory 255/70r18 and you are good to go. It isn't actually a problem. I'm willing to bet dealerships will happily sell them to you.
