That Ford V8 (and SCV6 version with 2 cylinders plugged) in the LR4 has shown so many problems long-term. Needs a new water pump every 40K miles. I just replaced the alternator and valve cover gasket a second time. (Leaking valve cover gasket drips oil into the alternator and kills it) Rear coolant manifold and front crossover pipe are plastic and when they crack you fry the engine in minutes. If staying with the Ford V8, I hope LR corrects some of these issues every high mileage LR4 owner is dealing with before putting it in the Defender.
The V8 engine is the 5L Supercharged. Land Rover is using up the remaining Ford sourced engines and starting up an internal production process to satisfy future sourcing requirements.
