525HP V* Defender is Coming
I know LR was planning to source V8 engines from BMW. I wonder if the Defender V8 is a newer BMW engine or a version of the old Ford V8.
That Ford V8 (and SCV6 version with 2 cylinders plugged) in the LR4 has shown so many problems long-term. Needs a new water pump every 40K miles. I just replaced the alternator and valve cover gasket a second time. (Leaking valve cover gasket drips oil into the alternator and kills it) Rear coolant manifold and front crossover pipe are plastic and when they crack you fry the engine in minutes. If staying with the Ford V8, I hope LR corrects some of these issues every high mileage LR4 owner is dealing with before putting it in the Defender.
