I'm at 5 months now on a 110S P300 or 110SE P400 if that's what it takes to get the allocation. I once again should be in this months group, but like others have said, JLR are taking V8 and higher end models to make the most money with the limited parts available.

You might want to check out Sewell in North Austin -- they've been great to work with. I'm in the same boat as GrouseK9 and NoGaBiker though -- I may have gotten my order in just before things went nuts.

I was told this by several dealers: JLR asks the dealership premises to be the "latest and greatest" - meaning, newly refurbished, new décor, lights and all the things that make it shine, and attract customers in (they think).
Basically they want the dealer to spend a ton of money and then they get some more allocations.
It is an algorithm that is obscure even for a lot of dealers. My family has 3 "orders" on waiting pattern ( deposits , with no allocation yet ) and it seems very likely that Ineos may be here before the LRs will.
All I can tell you it that is a clown world.

If you are willing to settle on a certified used, Ali at Land Rover West Chester PA did some extensive searches for used at other LR dealers. There will be a small markup for sure, but he almost landed us the Disco we wanted. Good dude, works for the sale, and shows you the time of day, tell him Marc sent you.

We gave up on our second Defender order. The delivery timeframe was repeatedly pushed back, but the date our kids return from college and the date they start their summer jobs hasn't changed. My wife has been driving their Honda Passport while they are away. FWIW, you can order an X5 now with reasonable delivery times. Most BMW dealers have X5 allocation spots and you get assigned a production number a day after you place the order. They promise you delivery in 8 weeks, but actual X5 delivery has been running around 6 weeks based on forum posts. Being built in SC certainly helps. And they are selling V8 X5's at MSRP.

I think the real problem is going to be price increases. If JLR follows others they are starting to raise prices and JLR will not fix you price on order. If you think they are going to charge you what the price was when you ordered, think again. When my22 came it the sticker was about $1,500 higher than when I ordered. Good thing is the market value is even more. Love my Defender.

@Pdflrd makes a good point: best you can hope for is MSRP on the vehicle you pick up not the one you ordered. Model years change (and pricing), options change (and pricing), yada yada yada. If you ordered a MY22, at this point you are guaranteed a price difference. If a MY23, you "may" get a pricing difference. However, for some mad reason, I felt "good" about pricing differences for a new model year. Even though pre-COVID that would be extremely rare.

I just heard from my dealership on Friday that my build would be submitted this month. It's a P300 110. This after waiting just a month.

Fingers are crossed

Matt
