Yeah, the heat worries me in the boot. Plus, my rear storage area will be full of gear when I am overlanding, so access would be quite difficult. I had it under the hood of my Tacoma and it worked very well there. If I can’t find a way to get it under the hood of the Defender, I may just throw it into a Pelican case.
It's all good! I've noticed the New Defender enthusiast community is a lot more active in the east coast than here in the west.
Yeah, a pelican case may be the way to go then. Hopefully we can get our hanfs on a V8 sooner than later so we can come up with something.

I'm getting the OEM compressor from JLR to install after I return from Puerto Rico in a couple of weeks. I value the convenience and not needing any storage over being a great compressor only because I have a 90 so any and all storage is at an absolute premium. Also, I don't air down a ton other than going out on the beach here and there so it should be fine for that but we will see. I will likely use it for inflating river and pool floats as much as deflating and inflating tires.

Hopefully, I won't regret it.

awesome! the product page links to the P400 installation instructions though. Is it super obvious how to install in the P300, or are there instructions in the box?

It mounts exactly the same as the P400 but the main difference is the aux pump bracket gets replaced with the one provided. The instructions will be updated very soon to include that.

To anyone who's installed an onboard arb compressor, does the ground need to be routed all the way to battery's negative under the passenger seat?

I did not. I mounted the smaller ARB in the engine bay and grounded it to the grounding point available in there.
