Default All-terrain tire options on 22 inch stock wheels?

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some advice on tire options for my Defender that has a 22-inch stock wheel. I've noticed that the options are pretty limited with the 275-45R 22's. I've seen some people running 285-45R 22's, but I've heard mixed things about rubbing issues without a lift or spacer.

I’m considering the BFG all-terrain in the 275 size but not sure I like the tread pattern. If I can do a 285 without having rubbing issues, I would love to do the Falken Wildpeak A/T4W’s.

Could you share what you're running and if you have a picture from the side and also the tread? I'm looking to do a more aggressive tire for the appearance of the vehicle and not true off-roading. 😉😉 Thanks!

Ended up going with the Firestone Destination AT2’s. I ended up doing the 285’s and looks good.

Thank you for your impressions. How does it feel for you compared to the standard tires?

I have 285/45/22 Toyo Open Country ATIII tires on mine. Zero rubbing and look great.

I would have to say that they ride better then the OEM tires so far.

Those look great and love the color of you V8. I have to say the A/T option makes the Defender look better with the 22's.

I love the Falken Wild Peaks - ran them on all my trucks without any issue and they do great in rain, snow, mud, dry, etc....Thinking of installing them on my LR Defender 110 (V8). Did you pull the trigger and if so do they rub considering the only size they have is a little wider than the stock tires? Any advice/pics would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

They will fit just fine. The diameter on the AT4W sized 285/45R22 is 32.1" and the maximum you can fit on a Defender without mods is 32.6." You will not have any rubbing.

I also like the Wildpeaks. I've been running AT3Ws sized LT265/60R20 for the past year and a half and they have been excellent. My only issue is they're a little louder then they were when new, and I've put 12k miles on them and do a rotation every 5k. Other than that, they're excellent tires and will probably go to the AT4W when I need new tires.

I have been running the continental at and love them so far. Good on road and wet weather traction which was priority being in FL.

+1 for the Toyo’s above. I have them on my 2020 X. not as smooth as the stock continental cross contact all seasons, but still rides great.
