Anyway to get rid of the Comfort mode with just a normal driving mode?
Get a Gap IID Tool, code in "auto" and code in 'Dynamic"
Dynamic utterly transforms the P400 motor. It's a huge difference, and I drive my Deefer 100% of the time in Dynamic mode, sometimes in S on the shifter, mostly in D.
The largest improvement this dynamic mode provides for the P400 is in shift speed (transmission)... which is so lazy and slow in comfort, eco, or auto modes.
It should come stock on this car.

Cheers!
Amusing tale, needing more power and speed for city driving? Maybe after that horrible first year of ownership you can sell it and buy one of those speedy
CR-V’s. Personally, the power and acceleration are more than adequate in my P400. Not too many cars I can’t leave behind when necessary. Come to think of it, I see lots of these drivers in my daily driving. Racing from traffic light to traffic light, weaving with no signals like the world is about to end, and I always seem to roll up behind them at each light. Hope they aren’t the ones complaining about the price of gas.

For the original question … my P.400 defaults/resets to comfort every time the truck is restarted. The only other mode that will “stick” is auto terrain response. I’ve not noticed much difference in throttle response between the two, but as far as I know it’s the only selectable option in terrain response that won’t reset to comfort when restarting the vehicle.

Does it wed itself to one VIN or can we group buy and pass it around?

The second question on that page is something about dynamic response enabling for the L663 and that's where it is.

There's a regular for a little over $500. That one will do diagnostics on any LR but, for CCF programming, is VIN locked and it includes free software updates.
The pro version is a little over $2k with a 500 GBP per year subscription that is not VIN locked.
