$500 is not bad, honestly; if, for instance, JLR had offered a Dynamic Mode option for $500 I’da checked the box.

Hell, just for diagnostics, it's worth it.

Currently, at 2 lane stop lights I get overtaken by CRV's and Foresters unless I floor it like a teenager. I just would like the vehicle to get power as I press the pedal and not gradually over 1.5 seconds. Has anyone had issues with this and found a solution? (other than switching to the V8) Any tuning to get rid of that delay when you start to go?
I always drive in auto mode. I haven't noticed any of the power lag you describe. I'd suggest trying that mode for a week to see if your experience changes.

Have you tried creating a custom drive mode? I haven't tried anything for street use, but I have my own off-road configuration and it works well.

I agree very useful. My car throws random codes from time to time. These codes affect the performance of the car in various ways. Its nice to have a diagnostic tool in the truck at all times.

Def can say 100000% if you're in this boat w/ the P400 motor -- go get GapIID tool, code in dynamic mode, and drive it in dynamic mode.

This is the best $600 you can spend.

It completely changes the vehicle (far more than sport mode). Shift speed are much faster (always my biggest complaint in Eco, Comfort or Auto mode), it revs higher in the power band, holds downshifts when slowing to stop... nice and slightly sporty.

Should be included on the vehicle software from delivery, it's that much of an alteration to the personality of the motor.

Slap it over to S or Sport Mode. It changes things pretty conclusively. Also, add the Pedal Commander. You're complaining about "throttle lag," a problem that almost all new cars have.

The Pedal Commander lets you ratchet up the "tune" in a number of variations. I had one on my Jeep Gladiator and now on my D300. You won't be disappointed.

How much does dynamic mode affect fuel consumption?

Totally agree with @McKinneyBear . I had mine for like two years before I discovered that. It makes a bit of a difference and I use it when jumping out of side streets.
