I"m thinking JLR put those in to make space for planned upgrades - now they have the area already there, they just need to write a program to over-write the pic of a Defender that's now there. I get that JLR has lots of issues to go through, but at some point, one of the OTA updates may bring those features to my Defender. Given how critical the battery is, I have to imagine that one is high up on their "to do" list... I can hope!
