i bought a cream trickle charger to hopefully continue feeding the battery when not driving. if anybody is familiar with the charger it has different steps. i am stuck on step 2 “soft start” charging under the AGM setting. i saw something online that the defender battery was agm but does the different defender models use different batteries? i have a 2022 v8
its only been on the charger for 2 hours but how long does it take to move onto the next step
Mine has taken a while on stage 2, I believe the manual says max of 8 hours for stage 2, that’s where the majority of the actual charging comes into play.
appreciate it. was getting worried. did you connect direct to the battery or post in the hood

Ive done it both ways, didn’t seem to make a difference. It will get all the way though eventually or it will kick itself out of charging mode and give you a bad battery warning.
My Ctek Time-To-Go charger failed on first night during overnight charge (my battery was completely dead). But after driving a couple of hours after jump start next day, It charged fully.
This model shows general idea of how many hours I need. https://www.ctek.com/us/battery-char...1qECIizMm413-w
Oh, and I used AGM setting as that's what we have from LR. (this image is directly from Ctek website).
i have been charging on the ctek for more than 8 hours and came back and it failed stopped on step 2. jumped it with another car and it took a little to get the car to start.
i am noob in electronics so pardon my noob questions. so is my battery completely dead and need a replacement or so drained that i needed a jump and maybe it it can charge now?
i might replace the battery to avoid bigger issues. looks like you need to remove the front seat to fully access the battery?

Same battery with same charger, Ctek failed charing when it was from complete dead. Then jump starter + driving to charge batter then connecting Ctek, made it fully charged. So you may want to drive to charge some then Ctek may charge properly.
