Boosting Cell signal for built in Wifi
Does anyone know of a way to add an external antenna cell signal booster to the wifi that is in the Defender? I am thinking of getting a cell phone signal booster to use in the Defender, but I am wondering if there is a way to connect an external antenna to the cell signal that feeds the car's wifi? The hope would be that then you could use the wifi for call, video streaming etc. when the signal would otherwise be too weak without the boost.
One little known Easter Egg is that if you place your phone on the wireless phone charger (between the cups and the armrest - IF yours was installed & not dropped because of supply issues...), then it activates a CellBooster in the Defender. The aerial (for US spec Defenders) is in the left rear D-Pillar (behind that black trim). I rarely use it because I have a case on my iPhone and prefer an "old school" wired charger and have no idea how "strong" it boosts the signal, but it should be there. May want to try that out if unaware to see if it may do the trick. Good luck!

Thank you, will definitely test it. It is a US Defender. One issue I have is that using the wireless charger causes the phone to heat up significantly. On very long drives, enough to make the phone very hot to the touch. Obviously I could not use the phone while using the wireless charger.
In one of my other threads, I noticed one of the CCF settings re: the cell booster. It's on my "to do" list to change the settings to see if I can turn it on full time. It may be a few weeks before I'm able to try it out, but I'll let you know how it goes and if it can be enabled full time, without having a phone on the charger. I'm sure I'll be on the FCC's most wanted list for some reason if I do /s. Not sure why it is designed to be only on when charging, but someone smarter than me likely has a better guess.
