Default Brake Fluid Flush

Hi All,
There is a lot of great information on this forum about the oil changes. Has anyone done the brake fluid flush? I'm assuming we can use the power bleeder and bleed as normal. Also, my dealer is using the BG LV DOT 4 brake fluid. I am planning on using the ATE DOT 4 SL.6 or Pentosin Dot 4 LV which meets all of the specs from LR.

Does anyone have any tips for doing this or better fluids to use?

Hi all,
I just completed the brake fluid flush. I didn’t do anything special with the parking brake, just hooked up the power bleeder and opened each bleeder.

I used the following products
Motive Products, European Power Brake Bleeder, 0100, Hand Pump Pressure Tank with Adapter https://a.co/d/1wuSF1p
Genesis Universal 1 Person Brake Bleeder Bottle with a Stainless Steel Cable Mount and 12 Inch Fluid Tube https://a.co/d/3gfOz9X

I went overkill and used a full liter. It probably didn’t need that much.

I did use a turkey baster to suck the old fluid out of the reservoir first. I would use a large syringe if I did it again. The turkey baster drips fluid and is messy.

Good info

I have a brake bleeder but it's the kind where you hook it up and pump the brakes to flush the fluid. Any problems doing it without a power bleeder do you think?

That's a good question. I would think that would work, but I haven't tried it. The service manual says to use a pressure bleeder, but is also says you have to use the LR computer to put the brakes in assembly mode so....

I recommend disconnecting the battery.
in failsafe mode, you can pump the brakes like a manual braking system.
Im not a professional do so at your own risk

I'm seriously hoping someone puts together a brake bleed video before I need to do it! I've done them before, but like the Defender oil change vids, I love them.

I should have done a video, but it is really simple with the tools I showed above.

1. Suck out the old fluid from the reservoir
2. Refill with new fluid
3. Fill the power bleeder with fluid and attach to the master cylinder
4. Pump up the power bleeder to about 15 psi and watch for leaks
5. Clean around the bleeder screw
6. Attach your catch bottle to the bleeder screw
According to the manual it is left rear, left front, right front, right rear in that order.
7. Open the bleeder screw about 1/4 turn and watch fluid drain. I let the most out of the left rear because it was the furthest.
8. Close the screw
9. Repeat 6-8 for each corner checking the fluid level in the master cylinder and pressure bleeder in between each. Pump back up to 15 psi after each corner.

I was super paranoid about running dry so I closed them several times and checked the pressure and fluid levels.

You said "left rear" twice, did you mean "right rear" the second time?!?
