Default Bugs!

It is spring again. Seems to come around every year about the same time and with it; Bugs. Bugs loaded with "let's make more bug juice." Well it dries out and forms the second hardest substance, next to Nano-crystaline diamond. Somehow, don't know how somebody fell onto this, in the aircraft world, we use furniture polish to remove them. You simply spray the leading edge with some, let it sit for a bit and wipe them off with a Terry towel. The scent seems to make no difference, the cheaper the brand the better it works. I suppose it repels dust afterwards. In my lemur like stupidity I had never applied it to cars. I was coming back from PHX after several weeks in South Africa and apparently drove though some kind of insect orgy on I-17, the car was simply plated with them. So I had the can of polish in the car and tried it before washing the car. It worked as well on the car as it did on the plane. Albeit I would do it before I washed it. The Defender seems purpose built to smash bugs so this may help.

Thanks for the tip, since we have the cicada apocalypse coming.

Before dedicated products came out I used to use Lemon Pledge on my wheels to repel brake dust, same principle.

Pledge has been the go to for my motorcycle gear for decades. Still does the jobs really well and my visor smells lemon fresh :-D LOL Cleaning with it removes bugs on the visor - and makes it easier to keep the visor clear on a rainy day with the twist of the head rolling down the road. Back in the 1990’s somewhere in Vancouver BC I was at a motorcycle event and the discussion came up, I was impressed with the brilliance of the simplicity of the solution! Never thought of using it on the Defender windshield but now… hmmm… I may have to give it a shot.
