Question Caliper conversion or grinding on P400 X trim (with the orange calipers)

Hi,
Has anybody with a P400 X (with the orange calipers and 19'' wheels - that is 350mm rear diameter) replaced the rear calipers with the Lucky8 ones or grinded them to fit 18'' wheels (Tuffant or Redbourne)?
I am curious if the rear calipers are identical with the P400 ones - other than the colour - so the process of replacement/ grinding is the same.
Thanks,
Nikolas

Only partially related but, AFAIK, both Redbourne's Alston and Morland 18" wheels have been discontinued. They have been nowhere to be found for months now, and show as sold out or out of stock virtually everywhere. Even the handful of questionable online stores listing these wheels as "available" will call you a few days later when you place your order, they can't get them anymore. I tried myself before ordering my new Tuffant.

As a matter of fact, I am starting to think that the Redbourne brand may be a victim of the pandemic, not just some of their wheel designs.

I have a 2020 P400x and ground the calipers. Worked great and they now fir the Tuffant wheels. Have not tried any other wheel combination. Also have a set of the Luck8 calipers which I was told would fit but didn't not swap them as the new defender I found out is a Brake by Wire system and I was concerned about loss of performance

Sorry for the hijack…. Are both the 18” and 20” Morland’s out of stock everywhere or just the 18”? I’m about to convert my 22” to 20”. Didn’t want to grind the calipers.

-Thanks!

Great pic and one of my favorite places in the world (we have a house in Ouray).

Do you have a lift or push rods on your p400x and what size tires?

I have a 2022 x-dy HSR with 22” rims and trying to decide what to put on it for mostly pavement but some off-roading. Why LR even offers 22” rims I have no idea!

Thanks a lot. I also think of grinding them in order to keep the orange colour. So I needed to make sure that the process is the same as in other P400s with 19-20" wheels from factory.

Technically, you are correct, but Black Rhino seems to have purchased the rights/tooling/whatever to the Alston designs and are manufacturing them. They're now on their website.

Ah, OK. Well, that's good news. Considering TSW owns both the Redbourne and Black Rhino brands, I guess they are perhaps consolidating the more off-road oriented Redbourne designs (such as the Alstons, although the Morland don't seem to have made it) into their popular off-road label Black Rhino. They probably all come out of the same Chinese factory anyway.

Thanks a lot for the info! In fact I want to avoid changing the calipers since I like the orange colour of them. So I needed to make sure that they are in fact the same as the X-dynamic ones (with the two fins) so to make the grinding as mentioned in other threads.
