One other thing, because of the rear tire on the door depending on the rack you cant collapse it up without an extender. I wanted to be able to access the back when camping etc so I went with the swing away which allowed access to the back and acted as an extender to allow for clearance of the tire when folding the rack up.

Not really with bikes on the rack, even if you drop the rack down. You could try a swing-away style mounting arm, and I do use one of those (RakAttach) with my 1UP rack, but pivoting the 90 lbs of extended Thule rack plus four bikes on it is going to put a lot of strain on that system. The RakAttach is rated to carry 275 lbs though, so I guess it should work.
I’m a long time 1up owner and fan, but I would actually go with a vertical hitch rack if I wanted to carry four bikes. The 1up is fantastic, but I dont like to carry any more than three bikes on it because it ends up sticking out too far. The kuat is even worse.
