Chronicles of an Extended Warranty
Folks,
I was on the fence about getting an extended warranty for my 2020 110S and ultimately decided to go with the LR-branded option after lots of research (initial post here: https://landroverforums.com/forum/20...earned-123563/). Many folks on this forum helped, for which I am grateful.
I'm not a fan of extended warranties in general, as by design they arguably favor the issuer. That said, already mine has come in handy a mere two months after the factory warranty expired paying for a leaking auxiliary radiator and a torn steering boot. In all, about ~$1,500 was covered, and the process with my dealer was effortless. I did nothing beynd drop the car off and sign some paperwork at pick-up. No calls to the issuer, pleas, etc.
I paid ~$,6000 for three years/75K coverage (I'll never get close to 75K, so the mileage works for me) and just wanted this in place for catastrophic matters. So, I'm arguably $4,500/75% in the red on the purchase, but early signs suggest it was a good move. Under warranty, my car has also needed a new differential, water pump, steering wheel, and some various smaller (but not inexpensive) repairs. But the car is awesome, with all the specs I wanted etc.
I'll continue to provide updates as they come in (and hopefully very infrequently). But, as our cars are increasingly coming out of factory warranty wanted to share my experiences in the event it's helpful to others. There are undoubtedly a lot of great options out there, including setting money aside to "self-insure" as I typically do.
