Congratulations on your new defender. I would suggest getting the warranty from the dealer. I did it was expensive but I recouped my money on the warranty claim for the rear differential. Rear differential was quoted at about 7k. I always had my vehicles serviced by the dealer while under warranty that way there is no issue with any claims as to “you didn’t do this at the right time or mileage. I learned this lesson young in life and use it on my commercial vehicle and was sent a complete engine from Japan because the first thing Mitsubishi asked for was the maintenance records. Dealer sent them in and was told they would cover the repair costs including the engine return to Japan. They wanted to see what went wrong with it. So long winded way of having in my opinion cheap insurance for an expensive vehicle. Congratulations again and let the mods begin.
thank you for your input, it makes sense and I believe that is the route I will choose. Luckily I have 2 dealers within reasonable range so I shop them both.
