WTFChuck, thanks. I can't see myself in any other vehicle, honestly. When my "OG" silver 2020 HSE got totaled by the insurance, I briefly entertained getting a new Bronco, perhaps even splurging for a Grenadier... but after thinking it through I realized the current gen D110 is perfect for my needs, as a daily driver and weekend toy.
Regarding tires, the "old one" had modified rear brake calipers with 18" TuffAnt Kimberley rims and 265/70R18 Mickey Thompson Baja Legends - wonderful AT/MT hybrid tires by the way, unless snow traction is important to you. My recently acquired Defender X came with big and shiny red calipers (car was originally fitted with 22" rims from the factory, alas), aftermarket 20" Black Rhino rims - not sure about the style but they must have quite an offset, as you can see - and Nitto Terra Grapplers G2 sized 285/55R20. The Terra G2 are not my favorite tires, I briefly had them on my old LR4 and found them to be competent but quite noisy on the road from the first day, plenty strong but only passable off-road - not very grabby in my experience. However, they do have decent sidewalls for 20s and don't rub with these rims - no lift - so they'll do for now (Mickey Thompson does make a 285/55R20 Baja Legend, so those will likely be my next tires.)
I actually bought a used one. 2020.5 Defender X in pristine conditions, with only 30K miles, so still under warranty, never driven off-road. Not quite as well equipped as my HSE was, but all the stuff that matters is there. Yes, that leaves me enough dough to buy new sliders and stuff.
It's not about the money though, it's mostly the idea of having to start modding from scratch all over again, after getting my car just the way I liked it... The thought of Installing a new set of sliders in my garage again makes me want to throw up a little.
That's one great looking truck. The fuel cans/storage boxes on the side work as well. Better than the factory "gear box" IMO

umbertob: Gorgeous looking Defender. And I can understand why you didn’t go with the Bronco or Grenadier, once the Defender has its grip on you there’s no turning back. Thanks for the tire info. I love the look of the Nitto’s, but not sure if I would like the extra noise. My only ‘off-roading’ here in Southern Florida would be sand, or on trips to the Outer Banks and the large lugs on the tires are not really needed for the sand. My previous Evoque never got stuck in the sand with its highway tires, driving past lots of Jeeps buried up to the axles. Mostly highway driving and the comfort level and ease of handling makes the Defender feel like a sports car. But with only 11k miles I’ll have time enough to thing about replacement tires. Enjoy the new ride.
Mine slams on the brakes when in reverse when say.. I'm about to hit a vintage Porsche, or the trash bins on trash pickup day. Or the car wash bucket. Has happened 5-6 times since I've owned the Defender.
There's a setting in Pivi for "audible warning only" or "reverse braking" -- @bridgestreet out of curiosity, is reverse braking enabled on your Defender ? Was it turned off?

@nashvegas very interesting, I just checked and mine is enabled. I’ve never felt it work during my time with the car and it didn’t engage in this setting. Frankly the audio warning didn’t go off either… I was slightly off from center which is how I scrapped the wheel arch and the car was covered in road salt. Possibly these compounding factors? Regardless, not once have I felt the car brake automatically.
Well it was worth a shot. Perhaps the salt spray, yes.
I might think it would be fun to get an empty plastic trash bin, put it behind the Defender, and back into it on purpose. See if it indeed slams on the brakes? IDK. Might make for a good photo shoot. PS - By comparison, mine will stab the brakes & stop just shy of the object. I haven't tested various speeds but at normal slow backing speeds it works well.
