Has anyone found a way to hard wire a dashcam, possibly using a power source from the rear view mirror? I miss mine but don't want the wires running from the dash and looking messy.
Thanks.
Powerful UK has wiring harnesses for most dash cams that tap into the overhead console wiring with no cutting or splicing. I purchased one for my Garmin dash cam; installation was quick and easy.
I have this powerful UK harness for my Blackvue dash cam, works a treat. It’s been working properly for 2+ years.
Be advised, cut the wire to length. If you have a long coil of wire up there you may cause interference with your rain sensor.
Then I also have a radar detector and used genuine Mirror Tap to power that too (not the fake ones on amazon that cause intermittent connections). It did occur to me that -- well, why couldn’t use use mirror taps to power the camera? Probably could.
In my opinion, be wary of FitcamX. That POS completely hosed my 911 when I installed it - killed the GPS signal for the car (satellites to 0), caused electrical interference making keyless entry system not work whatsoever and I couldn’t start the car half the time because the car wouldn’t recognize the key. That’s a problem. Second I unplugged the Fitcam or turned it off, problems went away.. Maybe others have better luck -- but its not properly shielded at a minimum and leaked a ton of RF interference on their Porsche 911 implementation and I wouldn’t be shocked it if wasn’t that way on other models. Mine went to the trash. Too bad because it’s a really slick looking product and a great install.

Just to second this, I used the Powerful UK harness splice to mount a Viofo camera in mine and it was easy and has been working flawlessly to the point that I forget it is even there. Leaves a very clean install, with only a slight bit of cables exposed before going up into the headliner. Just be sure to order the harness that corresponds to your camera's power input.
I know some of these dash cams record while the car is parked, for those that have that feature, does it impact battery at all… given some of the posts I’ve read on people losing battery charges?
i was thinking about getting the fitcam but ill check the OEM Land Rover one as well
