Default Daytime Running Lights

My passenger side Daytime Running Light stopped working this weekend. Can these be switched off until repaired? Thanks!

Yes, but you'd need a tool (like Gap IIDtool you may have read about on here) or similar device to code them off. Unfortunately, there's no setting on the car in the menus accessible without a diagnostic tool.

Sorry for the ignorance, my running halo light has been out for months now waiting on a replacement. You can turn the lights off with a Gap tool? Part of me has been worried if the light goes out again when the warranty has run its course that I’d be on the hook for $3-4,000 replacements. I’d much rather just turn the one that’s still working off at that point.

Let me actually test it on my car tomorrow before I say I'm 100% sure and I'll post a screenshot of the setting.

I did alter the settings of these lights in the CCF with Gap IIDtool, so that they don't dim or turn off when, for example the turn signals were on. I'm pretty sure the next setting down was "on / off " or something like that.

just FYI on this. my driver side DRLs stopped working this weekend. 2022 p400 with about 21K miles on it. dealer said this was the 4th or 5th he'd seen fail in the past few weeks/months. anyway, new one on order, and of course backordered. i did mention it would be nice if JLR pushed an OTA update to give us the option to turn off the DRLs and even asked if they would do it for me while they were inspecting, but they kinda shrugged off my comments. anyway, guess i'll be winking at everyone for a while ;-)

Sorry to hear this has happened to your Defender, so aggravating but could be worse issue. My SA at Land Rover Houston North really came through. I was told it was back ordered with estimated wait 4-6 weeks. She called me a week later with light. I had my truck at dealer 2 hours later.😃

It is very concerning seeing a 2022 model having this issue. My halo was also shot (driver's side too) but my car is a 2020 and one would think LR had resolved that in the later production models. I guess not...

I had this issue the other day when I put my turn signal on the headlight would go out but it seems it fixed itself. Why is that happening? Only settings I touched with the gap tool was dynamic mode, remember last, and 007 start screen.

Not quite sure by your description, but I thought that the headlight turning off when the turn signals are activated was normal. Most recent year vehicles on the road seem to have this feature in my experience.

Good evening everyone, new to the thread but I have had my Defender since March of 2021. Just a quick synopsis, I bought mine in Germany when I was stationed but have since moved back to the states. I had my passenger DRL go out last year August and had it replaced and now my driver’s side went out about two months ago and it’s still on backorder, still waiting, hopefully it comes in soon. I too wish there was an option to turn off the DRLs if we chose to.
