I just had mine replaced after a month or so. Sounds like they are slowly trickling in from the UK.....Weird that all of these seemed to go out at once.

Here is the latest video by Simon about JLR's DC to DC converter. This video is several that he has released in the last month. This one is pretty fascinating.

Thanks for the vid from PowerfulUK, very informative as to the function of the DC to DC converter. When Simon mentioned that the problem is most prevalent in colder climates, I was thinking no problem, I’m in Southern Florida. Except upon waking this morning the temperature was 27° with a feel like temp of 11°
I’m heading outside now to hook up my CTEK, but first I need to find my warm clothes. Oh, that’s right, I don’t have much in that department.

I don't think 27 counts as cold climates for these cars. (And the feels like is for a person - shouldn't impact the car. It was -5F here in the NE this morning. And I'm sure our friends in Canada have much colder still

Interested to better understand this potential issue and causes. We have a P400 with about 25k miles. Has been perfect so far.

Our 22 Defender lives in Maine. It's on its original battery. Lives most of its life outside and never is connected to a trickle charger. Never has a problem cranking up. It is a daily driver and is driven about 30 miles a day on my wife's commute - potentially keeping the 12v battery topped off so the DC-DC charger doesn't have to work as hard perhaps.

Cars, like RV's and boats, break less the more frequently you use them - I'm thoroughly convinced.

I got mine back last week, I asked for tips on how to avoid this happening and they don’t know. Maybe a software update or a batch with a widespread defect. About the cold mine failed in the mountains but it wasn’t extremely cold -1/2 degrees Celsius. But from what I understand that’s not the main reason for it failing.

Thanks for the video - English wiring inefficient??? No way!! It wasn't the cold that did mine in either, in NC and it went out when we were in the 40-50F range. Mine is 2022 P400, 32k miles.

So, what happens when the DC/DC converter fails? Is the vehicle still drivable, just without the heating elements?
