Default Dealer didn't reset

I took my 23 p400 110 in for its first service a few months ago at 15k miles and got the oil changed, filters etc. 2,000 miles later I get a pop up message saying service due soon (at 18k miles). I'm skeptical the dealer even changed the oil now. Is this a common mistake or is this unavoidable when a dealer does the oil change? How do I reset the oil change alert myself?

Behind scenes at a main dealer: a customer comeback from a routine service is a service manager's worst nightmare (on a survey or as a formal complaint). There should be multiple checks in place in that workflow to ensure your car does not get back to you without that service reminder being reset. That's a f*** up. F. A failing grade.

1) The tech who does the work when he/she does the work, it's part of the steps in the actual oil change by the book. Missed this step.
2) The tech when their work is completed before they release the vehicle (ie "checking your work"). Missed this step.
3) The SA who technically should verify work on the car before it is given back to you after it is washed (they never actually do this but they should, if they are good). Missed this step.

0/3.

Whether you want to bring it up to the dealer or just reset it yourself, up to you. I'd just reset it myself -- but -- that's a breakdown in process that makes one wonder what else is slipping over there.
