Dealer installation costs
I am about to lock in my order on a 110 and have decided to include the wheel arch extension as well as air compressor. Dealer is quoting $2,200 for both installs. This is absolutely insane and not much you can do about it in today's Defender markup. In a way, they can put all their "ADMs" into installation fees.
I have read dealer installation charges are a rip off, but didn't know it was at this level. Just wish JLR can either do factory installs or at least have them done at port vs. passing the responsibility to the dealers.
Anyone else can share how much their dealers are charging to install accessories?

Both of those can easily be done with some common tools and watching some PowerfulUk videos. If you have the time, I'd recommend saving the cash for something cool to buy. I know that my local LR Dealer charges FULL service fees that are almost $200/hour and they use the standard labor rates, not the actual time to perform. The rate & the duration are inflated and giving you that cost.
+1 to what @GrouseK9 said.
The PowerfulUK videos are not only great viewing, (the Winch install quintrilogy was an epic to rival Peter Jackson's LOTR. ) they are enormously useful and will save you money and foster a sense of pride in your new ride.
edit: To answer your question. $190/hour plus tax

I guess you have to pay to play...I am honestly surprised of people who are willing to pay $10K on top of MSRP plus dealer installations, Wow.
The wheel arch extensions are not really that complicated. I think you could watch the video and probably take care of that yourself. My dealer quoted me $600 to install the compressor.
I put out a question about this on a fb group to get opinions and decided to go the dealer install route. I have read previous posts of air intake tops falling off & air compressors being finicky etc. There will be no warranty on any of those expensive accessories if you install them yourself. My dealer installed the Explorer Pack, Checker kit, Air Comp, Ladder, Dashcam and Activity Key for about $3000 usd. Was I happy about that, No, will I sleep better at night, probably Yes.
Also if you source the compressor from powerfuluk they say they include a template to make the most iffy part of the install easier: cutting holes in the trim behind it

Yeah, definitely shop it around. Also, if you have two dealerships nearby I would bet you have a very viable 3rd party Land Rover repair shop. They usually have MUCH better customer service and prices. They don't have a warranty, but if they did sloppy work & didn't cure it - they wouldn't be around. These aren't your Billy-Bobs on a Corner repair shop. (Apologies to any Billy-Bobs reading my posts).
I agree, although the NA versions have a light (or is it just a reflector?) on the front of the arches so the install here will be slightly different than Simon's.

Yeah the drilling and getting the wires run are really the challenge with the compressor it seems. I spent half a day getting the rear bumper almost off (could not get around the tow hitch) to install the tow hooks. Personally for me that amount of time spent (and to fail at it to boot) is not worth the time spent.
