A report showing no service records can lead to a lower sale price. For those who do their own service maintenance, hang on to your receipts and records. I wish there would be a way for owners to report directly to Carfax for services they perform.
I am not saying that Carfax reports are always accurate, but they kind of have become the source when buying a car and judging the car's value. Just my 2 cents worth.
They are convenient to future owners, particularly for dealers, but are fairly irrelevant to your sale if you have your service records. Not to mention the main plus of DIY is that you should be changing it more often, 22k miles is not ideal for longevity of the engine. If I was buying a used out of warranty defender, I'd take a DIY car with 10k intervals and paper records over a car with only carfax records everytime. The carfax records only become a real factor if there are no paper records, so definitely keep your records. Can't argue with it being nice to have the carfax records, but I don't think there is much value in it. Better off investing the money into more frequent DIY oil changes, or saving it for repairs.

That said carfax does have a tool to track DIY service, however the records don't show up in their history reports, it's just for convenience... If they allowed them in the history people will add fake entries, which will devalue their history reports.
