Default Defender 130 wouldn’t start or turn over

I have had the Defender 130 for around a year and generally everything has been fine. However, I went for a drive this morning as normal and then switched off and locked vehicle as normal. On my return around 30 mins later tried starting the car but engine would not turn over. There were no error messages on dash. Pressing the start button would only turn on and off the electrics. Decided to call LR Recovery and whilst on hold tried again and this time engine turned on as normal. Have any of you guys experienced something like this?

I believe they have a recall to address this.

Do you know the recall bulletin number or whatever the reference is? I have this issue also and when reported they just change the battery in the fob - which never works.

Wasn’t aware there was a recall for this. Will contact dealership and get booked in. Thank you for your help and advice.

I’ve had the same issue - disconnect/reconnect the negative battery terminal. Fixed.

Had the same problem again today and LR Recovery (AA) on this occasion came out and tested battery and found it to be faulty. They don’t carry a spare one and as dealership closed wouldn’t recover in to them.

Did you see or have any error signs on the dash about recognizing the key? I'm assuming no since you say the dash lit up. But that can still light up, just not start.

I had similar trouble a few weeks ago and it was all about the key not being recognized. I had to pull a fuse and replace it to reset the system, I can link you to the thread if you think it helpful.... and then it was fine. (alternatively could disconnect the battery wait for a few minutes and reconnect it... but easier to just pull the fuse).

LR Recovery came out today. Checked battery and confirmed faulty. They replaced the battery and all should be well now…
