Does anyone know why they went with the wrap vs a custom paint color?

Why Land Rover? A simple number plate or a certificate of authenticity or a freakin key fob with a number. LAME!
If you option out a Defender X-Dynamic SE with the same exact options/accessories as the Trophy Edition (minus the wrap since you can't select that), it comes out to ~$84,275. What makes up the difference in value relative to MSRP (~$91,350) for me is:
  • I like the look of the wrap and know it will provide paint protection on the black underneath. With PPF over the wrap, it sounds like I can get this to last a long time.
  • I'm stoked about the chance to participate in the Trophy Competition and push my car (not my exact car) closer to its limits - I was bugging JLRNA the day after I got mine about how to sign up.
  • I would have specced a custom ordered Defender almost identically to how the Trophy Competition came out - to be off-road ready. Every dealer Defender near me has 22" wheels and none of the off-road packages, and the accessories all seem difficult to get these days. In other words, I'm not waiting 1+ year for a custom build that doesn't have the features I actually want (such as the digital dash).
It would have been nice if mine came with a winch instead of just the winch install kit, but that shouldn't be hard to add on after since the kit is installed

If you have the money to spend on it than yeah sure. I guess thats why they make these limited editions right? They are not really geared to be a great package for the mass, but obviously work for some people.

I do wish they had serialized them and offered a custom interior package...mustard and black seats would have been cool for this one...

Have to assume it's cheaper? And they could rush it into this hot market, perhaps.

Two tone seats would have been cool, but I'm definitely not complaining about the all black. If I do ever ditch the wrap, then blacked out will be a nice look.

Other than that, the car is awesome. Just glad I was able to get a new Defender specced in a way I wanted .

The window sticker should identify it as a Trophy Edition, though right? Even if in future there are copies out there, they won’t have the option on their sticker. My local dealer has a Trophy Edition and while they have been pretty fair during the inventory shortage and sold their Defenders at MSRP or less, this one seems to have a 20k ADM.

Indeed it does, it includes "Trophy Edition Pack" as a line item on the sticker.

Thanks a lot for the advice.
Still waiting to hear back from JLRNA.

I am scheduled to have EXPEL PPF and a ceramic coating applied to the rig next week. The tech doing this work does the after market matte wraps for my dealer and he spoke with them today - with their backing, he's going to try and make necessary repairs/adjustments at the time of the PPF install (to the extent possible - nothing crazy, but definitely a few areas that need attention). I suspect the EXPEL PPF and ceramic coating will afford significant protection to the Trophy Edition wrap and rest of the rig.

You can not be serious. $110k?

When I sold cars in college, our GM had a standing spiff of $100 for anybody who could convince a customer to get in the trunk during a demo if we closed the lid while they were in it. "You won't believe how much room is in here, go ahead, jump in, I'll show you!"

$50 if we could bring their watch back with the license and signed deal sheet "to show him you're serious because he's going to laugh when he hears this ridiculously low offer you're making".

$1 for every minute you left them stewing in the hot Florida sun while we watched them from the office.

Hit cars with dead batteries and doors that wouldn't quite open got $200.

Any winnings you got from lotto tickets that you scratched off as you did the demo were matched (this specific type of disrespect really got him off for some reason).

I could go on but it really sounds like that's what's going on with this $20k markup. They call it a 🏆 Edition for a reason.

Just checked their website, and it seems to have sold over the weekend.

Chances are they got the ADM too…
