This trail down near Charlottesville? looks the bizness, we should get a group of VA Defenders down there for an outing.

You'll have a blast. This is my favorite time of the year - great weather and no crowds.

I'd do this trail again in a heartbeat. The route we took started at the Big Levels 4X4 Trail - Northern trailhead and finished at the Bald Mountain pull out on the Blue Ridge parkway. Topo Maps, Trail Maps, and Satellite Imagery (gaiagps.com) Took about 5-6 hours but we were traveling slowly and stopped for lunch and at a few overlooks to enjoy the view. Need to be prepared for pinstriping especially at the top where the trail gets very narrow & overgrown with mountain laurels. I'm sure in mid-October the trip would be particularly scenic.

Love the matte Finish. How does it do with car washes?
