Discontinuing the LR V8 or no?

As of now, its unknown. It seems likely that they will probably move to the BMW V8 for all V8 models for the 25MY. We will know for sure very soon, though.

Ya I’m curious. My local dealers are acting like I’m getting a deal on any defender p400 or v8 at msrp and aghast at the idea of a discount to msrp. If dealer stock is msrp and a new order exactly the way I want it is msrp, I’m happy to wait 6 months unless I find something perfect spec or used perfect spec.

The deal you get really depends on the aging and inventory levels of the dealer. Discounts of $2000 to $5000 can be had if the dealer lot is filled with aging inventory. Just do a search on cargurus.com, autotempest.com or autotrader.com. It is work and if you find the car you want or order one with your specs, paying MSRP without any add on is still considered a good deal when compared to the crazy prices of 2-3 years ago.

the Defender is the last chassis to still offer the 5.0 V8 and it’s just going to be time before it’s retired.
my speculation is any V8 offering for all JLR products would be limited to higher end options and very limited. Sourcing an engine from another manufacture is costly and limited.
A good indicator of this trend is the new sport and only offered in the v8 with the SV trim that’s starts at 180k US sticker. There was a first edition that had the v8 but those are all gone
Beside the Sport SV you can source a full size land rover with a v8 but also pretty limited in production.
V8 will eventually no longer exist with the strict emissions in Europe. You can see other manufactures tricking the system with high powered v8’s with a mild hybrid to balance the fleet out with more EV offerings
