I'm looking for a robust drive-away awning which can be closed up like a tent, has a floor and doesn't need a roof rack to fit. I have roof rails but no full roof rack.

Kyham seem to have several options but it's unclear which would fit a 2023 Defender.

Any ideas/suggestions welcome.

I’d be wary of anything with straight walls if you ever camp in a windy area. You’ll find they just catch the wind and will be a real pain no matter how many guy lines you set up.

 

Yeah, good point on the wind. We're in the PNW so usually forested but still windy at times. I like that it has full head room at the edges. My plan was to set up the Defender for sleeping and then have kitchen/lounge space in the tent so I liked the headroom and side panel options. Might rethink it a bit. Cheers

 

The arb awning and room can be set up with slant wall wind breaks if it’s blowing. You’d need to put their straight awning on the side of the rack. I think there are attachments that would work with cross bars.
