Default Engine Oil

Does anyone know what engine oil their dealership is actually putting into their defenders? I recently tried to purchase oil for a oil change and my dealer told me they just use mobile 1 synthetic and they dont even have the castrol edge professional. I opted to order the castrol edge professional from rover parts

My dealer uses the OEM Castrol Edge. It doesn't really matter what oil is used as long as it meets JLR's specs.

But - I don't think Mobil 1 synthetic meets the JLR spec. There are a couple of oils that do, including the castrol edge

Whether that matters or not is a subject of much debate. But I'm surprised a dealer is not using the oil per JLR spec

Many folks use Liqui-Moly. They have two different 0W-20 oils that meet or exceed JLR's specs:
https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/us/top...271.html#22192
https://www.liqui-moly.com/en/us/top...918.html#22044

I started using Liqui-Moly in my Audi with the supercharged V6 that likes to burn oil, and since switching to Liqui-Moly, I haven't had to top off the oil between changes.

Liqui-Moly for my Defender and my Boxster. Top grade stuff. Meets all specs.

We have not yet changed the oil in our Defender, but in my 5-liter Jags, I use Liquid Moly or Ravenol. Both meet the JLR specifications.
