Hey guys, quick q I have noticed when I fill up the gas tank if often only lets me fill half a tank .... the gas is at the top with gasoline coming up to the top of so I pull out the pump and it refuses to let me pump more .... but it’s only pumping half a tank and when I get in it’s only half full on the reading .... I’m I doing something wrong ? Anyone else had this ? For full disclosure I have had the Defender for 4 weeks or so and it’s the first car I have owned in the US (Brit living in NY) . Many thanks for any help or thoughts

 

I do not believe this is normal. I suspect your fuel tank vent is closed / clogged for one reason or another.

If it is a consistent situation, I suggest you take it to your dealer 1/4 full and have him pump gas with you., then have him fix it under warranty.

 

Thank you for coming back. I am going to try it again just to check I am not being stupid and then do as you recommend. Appreciate your advice.

 

Did this get resolved for you? I just picked up a new Defender and am driving to France. Anything above half full and the fuel spits back out. It’s a long journey to refuel every half tank!
