First time defender owner need advice on tire -Goodyear WranglerAll terrain 255/60R20
First time Land Rover buyer here -- Finally, a car that suits my personality and not the mommy suburban I've had for so many years
Im buying a Certified Pre Owned 2020 Defender and want to upgrade the tires from 19 " to Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Adventure 255/60R20.
Should I have the dealer add the tires on and purchase the warranty for them OR purchase after market?
I live in a neighborhood where there is lots of construction (increased odds of nails, etc) but not much off-roading predicted. Purely, aesthetic desires.
Basically, just need advice on someone with experience with these tires. I don't usually buy the extended warranties, etc, on my vehicles but with the tires this expensive, thought i would ask about others' experience.
Found them at walmart for $300 each so not cheap and looking for some solid advice.
Thanks!!

If your Defender is running 19" wheels you have almost no choice in tires. The size you listed is for 20" rims.
3 options exist in the OEM size 255/65 R19.
- LR All season option (Michelin I believe),
- Goodyear Wrangler Adventure
- Goodyear Duratracs.
If you are changing to a 20" rim, a whole sea of tire options opens up. 100+ options
If you are changing rims and are able to fit them, I would change to 18" rims. Again, oodles of even better tire options.
The way I’m reading it, the truck currently has 19” wheels and she wants to up grade to 20” wheels w/. Wranglers.
I have the 19” Wranglers that came with the truck. They’re OK. For street use they’re good. If I had to do it over again, I should have ordered 20” wheels for more tire options. As GavinC pointed out, I found out too late that 19” tire selection for this truck is limited. Plan right now is to go down to 18” once I wear these tires out.
With that said, if you go to 20” wheels, I would get KO2 or something besides Wranglers unless you’re getting a great deal on the Wranglers, in which case wear them out and replace with something different later.
Personally, I’d skip the wheel/tire warranty. Unlike car tires, AT truck tires generally have more tread and although you can still catch a nail, plugging a tire is pretty easy. It’s also more difficult to damage the wheel by curbing it vs lower profile car tires.

I would grab these that are listed in the marketplace at an amazing price:

You will need to have a tire shop add the TPMS sensors and you can buy 5 of them online here: https://parts.landroverparamus.com/o...ensor-lr070840
Not sure where you are located or if the seller is willing to ship them. However, I bought a set of wheels about 1000 miles away and had the seller drop them off at a UPS Store near him. I contacted the UPS Store and paid them about $600 to pack and ship the wheels to me.

Agree. Best and cheapest bet is to get a set of almost new takeoffs. Just be mindful of fact that ppl usually take TMPS sensors so you'd have to swap yours over at the tire shop. The sets of wheels show up here, & elsewhere, with some regularity ... and it's a good deal to get wheels and tires (as opposed to buying new at the dealer for example). It seems a fair number of folks are upgrading their tires immediately upon purchase.
