Default Off-Road tires on Defender 2022

Hi there.

I'm finalizing my 22 build and wanted to ask y'all what off-road tires come in the off-road pack. My googling seems to say Goodyear's Duratrac which have the snowflake/peak icon I want.

I do a lot of driving in the snow here in WA and am a full convert to the merits of having a good snowflake/three peak icon embellished tire. Blizzard Blizzaks open my eyes to what a winter tire can do for grip.

Thanks in advance.

Gavin

yep, Duratrac is a dealer installed option. The forum suggests buying them aftermarket is the less expensive route.

My plan is to wear in/out the Adventure A/Ts on my 2020 P300 D110 and then rely on a couple of threads here to advise me which ones to replace them with.

The 255/65R19 GY Wrangler Duratracs supplied as a dealer installed option (also available elsewhere, e.g. Tire Rack, probably for less dough than the dealer - shop around) DO NOT come with the 3-Peak / snowflake symbol, FYI.

Thanks for the input and advice all.

I'll probably see how the factory Goodyear Adventure feels on the snow but will likely get a set of snow tires +/- rims for the winter months. Anticipated delivery is November so in time for the winter season.

For folks who get the dealership to install Duratracs or (something else) are the dealerships giving a credit for the factory off roads? Probably not but thought I'd ask.

I do not recall anyone upgrading to the duratracs on the forum -- maybe one person? Instead, folks seem to prefer a different list of tires.

This is the foundational thread on the topic:

Do make sure you NOT buy 19" wheels. It is virtually impossible to find off-road tires in 19" inch.

JLR offers 19" as standard on the LR4, RRS, Defender, etc. Why they keep doing this is a mystery for an off-road vehicle brand.

U. S. Build & Price offers off-road tires as an option on 19 inch wheels.

I got the 19" Wrangler Duratracs (from a local shop, not through the dealer), so far they have been much better than I expected, both on and off-road. I used to run oversized 18" LT, E-load tires on my LR4 and they were bulletproof, but there is something to be said about stock sized tires that are 10-15 lbs lighter and perform exceptionally well on every terrain that I am likely to encounter here in the Southwest - not much mud or snow but lots of rocks, boulders, sand, dusty and rutted desert trails. The standard Wrangler Adventure were quieter and probably saved me some gas on pavement, but I wouldn't trust them on more challenging off-road terrains as their sidewalls are notoriously tender. Otherwise they are fine tires, nearly as good as all-seasons and perfectly acceptable on milder off-road trails. They're a good compromise.

Haha, credit from a Land Rover dealer.... When Hell freezes over. If you don't want to give them the satisfaction of holding onto your brand new set of tires free of charge, tell them to throw them in the back of your truck and sell the takeoffs on eBay or something. You'll probably find quite a few takers, those suckers are expensive from tire shops.
