Default Gear selection issue

Sorry if this is already posted... I actually hope it has been, so I can figure out what is happening.

Randomly, but now twice (second time today), after utilizing auto-shut off at a traffic light, and then wanting to go again when light is green, the shifter shows in Drive, revs as if in neutral, and selecting drive does not change anything. Nor does selecting Park.

Of course person behind start honking like I am not paying attention, so put hazards on.

I then power vehicle off, then back on, select gear and then I am able to move again.

Is this a one-off gremlin?

Fyi, I did the recent software update, but this happened once before with older software version.

As another aside, I came back from dealer recently where they did an inspection for other unrelated items (1 week ago driving normally since then).

Thoughts?

Never had that experience, however, i shut off the auto stop/start every time i get in. I doubt the thimbleful of gas you are saving over time is worth the engine wear from frequent start/stop activity. That might help you.

There is a TSB on this issue - the dealer has to update the software in the control module. The OTA software updates dont address this. I had this issue and once addressed it's never reoccured.

I agree on the auto start stop. If there was a way to keep it in the setting, i would... I dont always remember when i get in.

Oh, good to know! Do you happen to know the TSB # ? I'll call the dealer today.

Default See this thread - similar or same “shifts to neutral” problem on 23MY P300 variants.

SSM75717 was the effective fix. This is the link we used to download it at the time:-

Dropped off at dealer today. We'll see if it does the trick. Read through the link you posted Ross. Glad to see I'm not the first. Dealer said its been an ongoing issue for many models... glad to see they are aware of it as well.

Update: Got P400 back today. Turns out the battery was undercharged and needed be replaced. They still updated the modules but it seems the modules themselves were not the culprit.
